We manufacture LEKO® wood elements at our three factories in Finland. The delivery always includes element design and transport service. In addition, we offer wood construction design and installation services.
A standardized product range and a functional process starting with 3D design, dimensionally accurate prefabrication and automated assembly of the elements allow for quick and efficient installation. The dry chain does not break at any stage of the process, from raw material storage to element installation. LapWall’s elements allow the building to be quickly protected from the weather. For example, some 1,000 square meters of roof elements can be installed per day.
Our customers are Finnish construction companies and builders, to whom we sell our products mainly as installed.
The LAPWALL LEKO® wooden element system includes around 50 standard products for cost-effective prefabrication of large and small buildings. Our wall and roof elements are widely used in residential, commercial, industrial, and public construction.
The structural solutions of the wood elements are standardized. However, the size, cladding and openings of the elements are always unique. We use standard products and details in the wood structure and element design of the site. Since 2019, we have used robotics and process automation for structural and element design. The use of products and joint details has enabled the robotization of routine work in 3D CAD/CAM design.
We are the world's first wooden element manufacturer with verified EPD environmental declarations for products. The values are calculated starting from the procurement, processing and transportation of raw materials to the factory, continuing to production and product delivery to the construction site. Furthermore, post-use dismantling, transportation, material handling, recycling, and final disposal are included. The EPD declarations also prescribes values of the environmental benefits of recycling and reuse, which we deliver to our customers as a part of our commercial tenders.
Our product offering can be divided into five groups:
wall elements for single store buildings
wall elements for multi store buildings
Facade elements
Roofing elements
Roof element system
Our production is divided into component manufacturing and assembly. The roof element factories in Pälkäne and Veteli are mainly assembly factories, where subcontractors deliver the largest parts directly to the assembly lines. Production at the Pyhäntä factory is divided into component manufacturing and assembly lines, and the production utilizes robots and a semi-automatic frame stations. A wide product range and small batch sizes require in-house component manufacturing, which enables the efficient and flexible production.
We will further strengthen the automation of assembly and component manufacturing as a leading company in the industry. Since 2019, we have used robotic process automation in structural and element design, and we also utilize a wide range of IT systems and digitalization in our operations, which improve our operational efficiency. We are also planning to increase the degree of automation in production and increasingly utilize robotic process automation in our business. New, even more efficient operating models will be introduced in the new factory to be completed in Pyhäntä.
Finished goods are stored in weather-protected storage facilities located at the factories.
The wooden elements are transported to the site in the desired order of installation. The dry chain does not break at any stage of the process, from raw material storage to element installation. Using LapWall elements in a construction project eliminates the need for weather protection.
Pyhäntä - Wall element business
The Pyhäntä business unit produces LAPWALL LEKO® wall and facade elements, as well as roof element system products. The factory is one of the largest and most modern wooden element factory in Europe. We made an investment decision in the spring of 2024 for a EUR 19 million factory project in Pyhäntä.
The investment will significantly reduce the costs of component manufacturing and as well as assembly and improve material efficiency by utilizing the latest technology within the industry. The expansion will be completed in the second half of 2025.
Pälkäne and Veteli - Roof element business
Pälkäne and Veteli mainly produce LEKO® roof elements. The production facilities focus on the delivery and installation of roof elements for large hall-like buildings. The production volume of the Pälkäne site has more than doubled since we acquired the unit from Metsä Wood at the beginning of 2017.
Veteli’s business unit was acquired in a business transaction from Termater Oy in February 2022. In 2022 and 2023, we invested around EUR 2 million in streamlining production processes and increasing capacity at the Veteli unit, after which Veteli's production capacity is approximately 150,000 m2 per year. Veteli mainly produces LEKO® roof elements.
